Radaza’s office at City Hall padlocked
CEBU, Philippines — The office of Lapu-Lapu City Lone District Rep. Paz Radaza has been padlocked barely three days after Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan ordered the former to vacate the office space inside the City Hall.
Photo that circulated on the social media yesterday showed that the entrance leading to the office was covered with white-colored panel with a chain and a padlock.
When sought for comments, Radaza said that what “they did should not be again surprising.”
“They are doing this with full knowledge of pendency of the case. Can't they respect the court? Besides, the DILG opinion, which we expected already in view of the previous verbal pronouncement of the secretary, is nothing more than an opinion,” Radaza said in a statement.
She said that “an opinion, as we all know, cannot repeal, annul or invalidate an ordinance.”
“They should have also asked the DILG about this. But then again, we are almost used to surprises from our Honorable Mayor. With all these, he seems has the tendency to abuse,” Radaza added.
Radaza called on her staff to continue working but advised them not to destroy the office door.
“To my staff, I told them to continue working. Dili sama nila, dili man ta manglungkab. Pero magpadayon ang atong serbisyo sa katawhan. Mao nang I instructed them to just continue to work,” the congresswoman said.
The FREEMAN tried but failed to contact Chan for comment as of this writing. (FREEMAN)
