Palma: Pray until the killings stop

Rowena D. Capistrano - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — In the face of the recent string of murders here in Cebu, Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma urged his priests and the faithful to continue praying the Oratio Imperata against violent killings, and not stop praying it in their Masses until the killings stop.

Palma said he is saddened by the recent killings.

“Masubo nga balita no kay para nato daw nawad-an na ug respeto sa kinabuhi pero unta padayon lang kita pag-ampo nga unta mahayagan kinsa man ang nagbuhat niini,” he said.

He added that taking a life should not come easy to anyone because their intended victim is himself or herself a child of God and a member of the community, all the more reason to respect the life he or she has.

“Kay ug patay wala na, human na, tapos na ba ang iyang kinabuhi mao lang g’yud ka-simple ba o ka-ordinary ang gipatay nga anak sa Dios ug membro sa komunidad,” he said.

He added that for those who kill for a living, he hopes they will be enlightened and instead use their abilities to improve themselves or help others. — BRP (FREEMAN)
