PRO 7 to monitor newly elected officials

Mylen P. Manto - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — The Police Regional Office (PRO)-7 will monitor the newly elected officials in Central Visayas to determine if they are not involved in illegal drugs.

Police Brigadier General Debold Sinas said based on the initial information he received, almost all elected officials in the cities and municipalities in Region 7 are new.

Meanwhile, Sinas refused to comment on the case of Bantayan Mayor Vicente Loot and San Fernando Vice Mayor Fralz Saballones as well as Peter Lim.

He also refused to say if they are still in Cebu.

Loot, Saballones, and Lim were included on the list of personalities involved in illegal drugs that President Rodrigo Duterte revealed a few months after he assumed office.

"For Loot and Saballones no comment. If Peter Lim no comment. Because those are active operations," he said.

Although Loot and Saballones did not run for the 2019 midterm election, it does not mean that they were already excluded from the list.

Saballones reportedly did not report back to office after the successive killings of the councilors in the municipality of San Fernando. — MBG (FREEMAN)
