PRO-7 to reshuffle provincial directors, station commanders

Mae Clydyl L. Avila - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — Police provincial directors and station commanders in Central Visayas will be reshuffled in preparation for the May 13 midterm elections.

Chief Superintendent Debold Sinas, director of the Police Regional Office in Region 7, said the reshuffling is pursuant to the directive from Camp Crame.

“We received the order from Camp Crame to reshuffle cops with close relations with incumbent politicians seeking reelection,” Sinas said.

The reshuffling of station commanders will take effect on or before January 12.

The move is meant to avoid connivance between law enforcers and politicians.

Sinas said Senior Superintendent Julius Gornez, PRO-7 chief of Investigation and Detective Management Division (IDMD), will assume as Bohol Provincial Police Office (BPPO) director, replacing Senior Superintendent Angeles Geñorga.

The installment of the new BPPO director is set on January 11.

Geñorga, on the other hand, will take Gornez’s post as IDMD chief.

“Sole reason is the connections, not with the performance. It has nothing to do with the performance this time,” Sinas said.

In a separate interview, Senior Superintendent Royina Garma, Cebu City Police Office director, is also planning to transfer three station commanders due to “poor performance” in December last year.

“I am waiting for orders from the region. There might be a minor reshuffling of city police personnel. The three personnel will be transferred to other posts, which I think would suit them,” she said.

Garma assured reshuffling will not hamper any security preparation for the Sinulog Festival. — KBQ (FREEMAN)
