SRP carnival opens today

CEBU, Philippines —  The amusement park at the South Road Properties (SRP) in Cebu City will officially open today, December 8.

The park dubbed as “Boom na Boom sa Sugbo,” formerly known as Kasadya sa SRP, sits on a property along IL Corso.

It features over 30 modern recreational rides and amenities, which will be available to the public from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. starting today. Each ride amounts to P30 to P50.

The entrance fee of the carnival ranges from P20 on weekdays and P25 on weekends and holidays, including Christmas Day.

It will run until February next year.

Councilor David Tumulak, chairperson of the City Council’s committee on public order and safety and deputy mayor for police matters, said RSF firm, the operator of the carnival, is renting out the property from a big-ticket firm.

The annual carnival had been held at the SRP Sugbo grounds, but not this year.

Tumulak said the property was already purchased by a firm for an P18-billion casino and hotel project.

He said the city government will collect amusement tax, which is 30 percent of total income, from RSF.

On the other hand, he said the city government will provide buses to ferry passengers to SRP for free.

He said though the number of Kaohsiung buses to be deployed will still be finalized. — KBQ (FREEMAN)
