According to the initial investigation, authorities received the alarm at 1:29 a.m. and raised it to first alarm status at 1:35 a.m. The fire was declared under control at 1:42 a.m.

Responding units included the Talamban, Lahug, Kasambagan, Bacayan, Mabolo, and San Jose fire stations; Tankers 1 and 5; the QRT Engine; Engine 7; as well as the T. Padilla and Kamputhaw tankers.

Investigators found that only one classroom in the school’s three-story building was partially damaged. No injuries or fatalities were reported.

In an interview with The Freeman, Senior Fire Officer 2 Wendell Villanueva urged the public to prioritize calling fire stations during emergencies.

“It’s always our goal to really respond to fire alarms fast and quick(ly). What is important is for the would-be fire victims to quickly call our station,” Villanueva said in a text message.

“Calling the nearest fire station is very crucial in our response. Mao nang tawag dayon, unya na pag-live ug pag-video-video,” he added, stressing the importance of immediate reporting over social media activity.

As of press time, the cause of the fire has yet to be determined, with investigations still ongoing. — (FREEMAN)
