DepEd regional offices told to fill up 4K posts by September

Caecent No-ot Magsumbol - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — The Department of Education has directed all regional and field offices to complete filling up 4,000 newly-created teaching positions under batch 2 for school year 2025–2026 no later than September 2025.

This move is made to address classroom teacher shortages from kindergarten to Grade 12 under batch 2 of its ongoing workforce expansion program this school-year.

According to DepEd, the funding request for the newly-created items was submitted to the Department of Budget and Management on June 2, 2025.

The items will be distributed with priority given to newly-established, legislated, or integrated schools that lack nationally-funded teaching staff.

Guidelines regarding allocation, deployment, and appointment processes remain aligned with Memorandum DM-OUHROD-2025-1226 issued in May.

Schools Division Offices (SDOs) are required to use the Teacher Requirement Analysis template and available school data to identify deployment needs accurately. Reports must be verified and submitted to their respective regional offices.

Regional offices, upon vetting the reports, are expected to submit consolidated and approved deployment records to DepEd’s Bureau of Human Resource and Organizational Development–School Effectiveness Division by June 30, 2025.

All appointments will be tracked through DepEd’s Program Management Information System and updates must be reflected in the Personal Services Itemization and Plantilla of Personnel in compliance with the National Budget Circular No. 549.

Full appointment and deployment of these teaching items are expected to be completed within the third quarter of 2025.

DepEd-7 regional director Salustiano Jimenez issued a separate memo for all division superintendents, assistant superintendents, SDO HRMOs and all other concerned parties concerning DepEd Central Office’s instruction concerning the hiring of new teachers.

Jimenez said, all field offices are expected to perform the necessary activities to expedite the hiring process and ensure 100% filling-up rate for these newly-created positions by September. — (FREEMAN)
