CEBU, Philippines — The Land Transportation Office Region 7 has issued a show cause order against a female rider after a video of her performing dangerous motorcycle stunts on a busy highway in Mandaue City went viral on social media.

The rider, identified as Debbie Marie Amores Juit, is the registered owner of the Honda motorcycle seen in the video. Her vehicle registration lists a Don Carlos, Bukidnon address.

The incident, which occurred on June 12, 2025, quickly drew widespread public attention and online criticism. The footage shows the female rider executing perilous maneuvers—letting go of the handlebars, leaning precariously to one side, and even dancing while the motorcycle was in motion in the midst of active traffic.

LTO-7 stressed that such behavior is a serious threat to road safety.

In response to the public outcry, LTO-7 Regional Director Glen G. Galario issued the show cause order on June 13, 2025, directing the rider to appear before the LTO-7 Operations Division at N. Bacalso Avenue, Cebu City within the week.

Juit is also required to submit a written explanation for her actions, which constitute a violation of Section 48 of Republic Act 4136, or the “Reckless Driving” provision.

“This incident represents a clear violation of traffic laws and a serious threat to public safety,” Galario said in a statement.

He added that Juit not only endangered herself but also posed a significant risk to other road users.

Depending on the outcome of the investigation, Galario said Juit may face administrative sanctions, including suspension of her driver’s license and the imposition of additional penalties.

Galario also reminded motorists of the importance of responsible and lawful driving.

“Let this serve as a warning,” he said, adding, “Social media popularity is not worth risking lives. Road safety must always come first.”

The incident has underscored growing concerns over dangerous stunts fueled by the pursuit of online attention, prompting authorities to stay vigilant in enforcing traffic laws.

LTO-7 reiterated its commitment to monitoring such violations and holding offenders accountable to ensure the safety of all road users. — (FREEMAN)
