P47 million drugs seized

CEBU, Philippines — The Lapu-Lapu City Police Office recently conducted a major drug-bust operation in Sitio Ibabao, Barangay Agus, resulting in a significant seizure.

After a weeklong surveillance operation, joint personnel from the City Intelligence Unit, PDEA-7, and Regional Intelligence Division-7 launched a major crackdown on a 35-year-old high-value target identified only as alias “Eme”.

Confiscated from the arrested suspect were ten knot-tied transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, with an estimated weight of approximately 7 kilos, with a standard drug price of ?47,600,000.

Also recovered were one backpack, one cellular phone, and one tea bag with markings of ‘Côte d’Ivoire’.

In his statement, Police Regional Office-7 regional director Police Brigadier General Redrico Maranan emphasized the sustained crackdown on illegal drugs in the region. Maranan also commended the operating teams behind this major drug bust, highlighting their efforts in ensuring the safety and security of every Oponganon.

LLCPO director Police Lieutenant Colonel Dyan Agustin said that this accomplishment is not just a win for law enforcement --it is a victory for every Oponganon who desires to live in a safe, drug-free community.

“As we intensify our operations in preparation for the upcoming national and local elections 2025, we remain firm in our commitment to safeguarding our people and dismantling all forms of illegality,” Agustin added.
