More equipment expected at Guba Community Hospital

Caecent No-ot Magsumbol - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — For the convenience of patients especially in the mountain barangays, the Cebu City Government is eyeing more equipment for the Guba Community Hospital (GCH).

The city’s PIO reported that the city government is looking at purchasing an X-ray machine and other equipment for the benefit of the patients who are far from the city proper.

Mayor Raymond Garcia promised it himself during the hospital’s 53rd anniversary last Friday.

Garcia said, with more equipment around, doctors can already perform operations in the said hospital.

“Kani mahitabo na g’yud ni in a few more months. Gusto g’yud ko nga diri maka-opera na mo (mga doktor) diri, di na mo (mga residente) kinahanglang manaug pa (sa city proper). Maka-opera na g’yud mo diri puhon-puhon,” said Garcia, who was with Congresswoman Cutie del Mar during the event.

Guba Community Hospital’s Dr. Carol Cajegas said that among the equipment eyed, they will be getting the X-ray machine among others soon.

“Ang atong mga medical equipment nga first batch, included na dinhi ang atong X-ray machine, padung na to sila ma-deliver. We’re waiting for the delivery adto. We will be having new hospital beds, bag-o na ang atong ECG machines, mga fetal monitoring nato, fetal doctors, kay nagpaanak man sad ta og pasyente, so, kinahanglan ta ani nga mga equipment for serbisyo sa atong mga pasyente,” she said.

She hopes that once the necessary equipments will be available at GCH already, it can already go full swing as a level 1 hospital.

Currently, there are seven doctors serving in GCH including some specialists from the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC).

The Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, City Hospitalization and Medicine Program and the Cebu Technological University-CCMC College of Nursing are also helping them out.

Meanwhile, over a hundred youngsters were able to avail of the free circumcision during GCH’s anniversary.

Aside from that, GCH also offered free consultation and laboratory tests along with free medicines which were availed of mostly by seniors. — (FREEMAN)
