Gwen asks CCLEC anew for toll council rep

CEBU, Philippines — Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia has once again asked the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway Corporation (CCLEC) to grant Cebu Province representation in the Toll Regulatory Council (TRC) for the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX).
In a meeting with CCLEC President and General Manager Allan Alfon and Cordova Mayor Cesar Suan, Garcia stressed the importance of the Capitol having a say in key decisions, particularly regarding toll fee collection at CCLEX.
Currently, Cebu Province is excluded from the TRC, which consists of three representatives from CCLEC, along with one each from Cebu City and Cordova.
Garcia argued that the Province deserves a voice, as most CCLEX users—including Cordova residents—are provincial constituents who pay the toll fees.
Alfon expressed openness to working with the Capitol and considering amendments to the council’s composition to accommodate Cebu Province with two seats.
Last year, CCLEC postponed a planned toll increase for CCLEX users, following Garcia’s request for provincial representation in the regulatory body.
Aside from Cebu Province, Cebu City is also advocating for additional seats on the council. — (FREEMAN)
