Charges filed vs vloggers for risky road contents
CEBU, Philippines — The Regional Highway Patrol Unit-7 has filed complaints of alarm and scandal, as well as unjust vexation, against two Cebuano content creators over risky content filmed on public roads, which authorities say posed dangers not only to themselves but also to motorists and passengers.
The vloggers facing charges are Brian Emance, also known as Boss LB, who acted as a “snail man” in the middle of the road in Consolacion City, and Leonolo Arquita, known as Boy Banat, who climbed onto the roof of a jeepney and danced.
Emance is facing charges in connection with a traffic disturbance he caused in Consolacion, Cebu, on March 9, 2025, despite issuing a public apology on social media following the incident.
As part of the stunt, Emance blocked the road and pretended to move like a snail along the national highway, causing a traffic jam.
Arquita, also known as Boy Banat, had also been summoned by RHPU-7 last year for another risky stunt filmed at the Transcentral Highway, where he dressed up as anime character Son Goku and performed content-related antics.
But Police Colonel Wilbert Parilla, regional chief of RHPU-7, said their office will no longer summon content creators to avoid being used as part of these vloggers’ content.
Instead, authorities will immediately conduct an investigation if any content creator is found violating traffic rules and regulations.
Parilla added that several content creators are currently being monitored.
“This is just a warning sa tanan as I have said saona nga mga interview dili na nato ipatawag kutob sa atong makita nga dunay violations nga nahimo so ang atoang imbestigador will just conduct investigation and if ever evidence warrants for a filing of a criminal offense so atong i-file ang kaso,” said Parilla.
He emphasized that the charges aim to discourage the recurrence of such unsafe content on public roads.
“Wala man ta mobawal nga mobuhat sila og content but what we are trying to emphasize is ang safety sa katawhan ang atoang gusto ipahibalo nila nga they have to think og maayo nga dili sila makahasol, dili sila makahatag og kadaot or disgrasya sa atoang katawhan,” Parilla further said. — /ATO (FREEMAN)
