From Manyapyap River: Paril residents get water access
CEBU, Philippines — Personnel from the Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office alongside Metropolitan Cebu Water District have successful set up water connection from Manyapyap River to Barangay Paril’s main road to be able to supply water to residents.
After the identification of two alternate water sources in the mountain barangays, CCDRMO and MCWD wasted no time and worked on the connection from the water source for easier access.
The city government needs to look into different water resources with the dry season now taking effect, affecting barangays especially those in the mountain area.
CCDRRMO reported yesterday that they have established a 1,100-meter connection from the 15-foot deep Manyapyap River to the main road. They thanked Nike Pelaez, who is said to be the private lot owner where the water hose passes through.
At the main road area, a five-foot deep earth excavation had been made to serve as the water reservoir.
Once the water reservoir is put in place, the installation of the siphon tank will follow for the transfer of water from its source along with membrane separation technology which MCWD is letting the city use.
Aside from the Manyapyap River, the CCDRMO has also identified Bonbon River as an alternative water source as well as Barangay Bonbon and probably other areas nearby. The same setup will be done in the Bonbon River for easier access to residences.
Earlier, the CCDRRMO also distributed water to the Sirao Integrated School using the city government’s water tanker. — (FREEMAN)
