Ayuman: No overlapping with Comar

Caecent No-ot Magsumbol - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — Cebu City s new Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council chairman Ramil Ayuman assured that there will be no overlapping of functions with the City's Disaster chief Aderson Comar.

Ayuman, in an interview with The FREEMAN, said that the Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CCDRRMC) is responsible for disaster preparedness, response, mitigation, and recovery efforts within Cebu City.

The Council is more on the policy-making and monitoring of functions of the Disaster office, apil na ang pag-supervise, and coordination with other government agencies,  Ayuman said.

The Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, on the other hand, is the implementing body of the policies set by the Office of the Mayor and CCDRRMC and has the action team in disaster response.

Ayuman is replacing City Councilor Joel Garganera in the said post in addition to his function as the city s PIO head.

Ayuman s experience being a former CCDRRMO head himself and as an undersecretary of the Department of Social Welfare and Development is expected to be utilized well in the policy directions that the council aims.

As he takes on this new responsibility, Ayuman called on the other members of the council for a meeting while also visiting some related agencies for proper coordination.

Ayuman said he looks forward to working with the CCDRMO.

The said council is also set for another meeting next week to review the policies and look into data/record of previous disaster incidents in the city and how to improve its responses. -  BRP (CEBU NEWS)
