Pasigarbo's new supplier vows to guv: All will be "smooth"

CEBU, Philippines — The event supplier for this year’s Pasigarbo sa Sugbo has assured that there will be no technical glitches in the upcoming event this month.

During the August 13 coordination meeting of the stakeholders for the Pasigarbo sa Sugbo, Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia challenged MCLove Lights and Sounds or MCLove Party Needs Rental Services-Cebu to “show the best” for the spectators of Pasigarbo and ensure there are no technical problems that would mess the entire event.

McLove will be providing LED walls, lights, sounds, trusses, aircon tents, open tents, carpets, and flooring, among others for the said event.

The supplier assured the governor they will make sure everything is smooth and organized, especially during the festival’s showdown.

Last year, the Pasigarbo sa Sugbo was covered with controversy due to technical glitches during the staging of the ritual showdown in Carcar City.

This year, the Capitol contracted another supplier to handle the LED wall, lights, and sounds.

Meanwhile, while suspended Mayor Michael Rama opposed the return of Pasigarbo at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC), the Cebu City Government has expressed support to the Capitol’s big event.

Cebu City Tourism Officer Odchigue said they are behind Capitol in making sure the Pasigarbo would be a success.

Odchigue said there will be 279 traffic enforcers who will be deployed for the said event. On top of that, personnel from the City Risk Reduction and Management Office, the local school board, and maintenance personnel who will manage the portlets and porta baths will also be assigned.

As for security, the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas will be deploying 1,233 police personnel while Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO) will provide 400 police officials.

The Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine Navy, Coast Guard, and other security forces will also deploy their personnel.

This year’s Pasigarbo sa Sugbo will have 51 competing contingents with one guest contingent from Cebu City.

Dubbed as the “Festival of all festivals”, Pasigarbo sa Sugbo is the highlight of the month-long celebration of Cebu Province’s founding anniversary. —/ATO (FREEMAN)
