PNP warns BSKE bets from posting campaign materials on government properties

CEBU, Philippines — With the campaign period for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) is about the start in more than two weeks, the Philippine National Police (PNP) has reminded candidates against posting their campaign materials on government properties.
PNP Public Information Office head, Col. Jean Fajardo, said politicians should remember that posting campaign posters on government offices is not allowed based on the guidelines of the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
“Sa mga private residences nga ipinagbabawal, much more doon sa mga government offices, including mga police stations,” she said.
The Comelec set the campaign period for the BSKE from Oct. 19 to 28 while the elections are going to be held on Oct. 30.
She said violation of Comelec rules would result in a candidate's disqualification.
“Umiwas na tayo doon at 'yan naman 'yung pakiusap din ng Comelec,” Fajardo said.
Candidates can post their propaganda materials in designated common poster areas.
Meanwhile, at least 1,063 people were already apprehended for violating the election gun ban, Fajardo added. — (FREEMAN)
