CEBU, Philippines — Part of the preparations of the Police Regional Office-7 for the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) in October will be the holding of a peace covenant signing as well as a dialogue with the candidates.

This was revealed by Police Lt. Col. Gerard Ace Pelare, spokesman of PRO-7 regional director Brigadier General Anthony Aberin.

The aim is to ensure that those who will be candidates in the upcoming Barangay and SK Elections as well as their supporters will not use violence and other bad tactics that will disturb the peaceful conduct of the elections.

According to Pelare, they are waiting for another meeting of the Regional Joint Security Control Center (RJSCC) and Provincial Joint Security Control Center (PJSCC) for that purpose.

The first RJSCC was held with the Commission on Elections and the Visayas Command last week.

In their meeting, the schedules of the upcoming election were discussed as well as the Comelec Resolution which is the standard for the upcoming Barangay and SK Elections as well as the assessment from the Philippine National Police and the Armed Forces of the Philippines regarding the focus area.

In the next RJSCC meeting, other tasks to be done include the determination of the areas of concern of the PNP and AFP to be approved by the Comelec.

“Sa pagka karon wala pa gyud kay kamulo pa man nga nag-assess ang units on the ground kay naa man guy Comelec Resolution that will govern the assessment kana bitaw kinsa ang areas of concern, kinsa ang immediate concern, kinsa ang areas of grave concern naa man nay mga ingon ana nga categorization, sa pagkakaron mao pa may pag explain or sa pag discuss sa Comelec Resolution nga mo govern didto pa magbase ang atoang pag categorize,” said Pelare.

They also discussed the Comelec gun ban but Pelare has no idea when to start.

“Yes, naay Comelec gun ban pero wala pa koy definite information kanus-a mag-start ang Comelec gun ban mas maayo ang Comelec maoy pangutan-on,” said Pelare. — (FREEMAN)
