CCTO deputizes Sugbo bike lane patrollers
CEBU, Philippines — Some of the Sugbo Bike Lanes Patrol personnel will already be deputized to issue citation tickets to traffic violators beginning today, March 27.
This came after undergoing training with the Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO), said SBL Board’s executive director Bernard Maraasin.
So far, 18 personnel under the SBLP group can now issue citation tickets as agreed between CCTO head Raquel Arce and Maraasin.
“Ang piniling bike patrol mamahimong mo issue sa mga driver sa truck, private/public nga mga sakyanan, motor, tricycle e-bike, ug mga biseklita. Kini subay sa kasabotan ni CCTO executive director Ms. Raquel B. Arce ug SBLB executive director Mr. Bernard Maraasin,” according to SBLB’s announcement through their social media account.
Prior to this development, bike lane patrollers were only limited to reporting traffic violations.
Before, CCTO also deputized personnel from the other departments with the aim of going after traffic violators right away.
Since the establishment of the SBLB, personnel had been helping the CCTO not only in the monitoring of the proper use of the bike lanes but also for those illegally parked vehicles.
The bike patrollers had also been actively participating in different activities in the city to keep it clean and orderly. — Sanden J. Anadia, GMR (FREEMAN)
