Singapore trip with family: We did not use public funds - Rama

CEBU, Philippines —  Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama denies using public money in his recent trip to Singapore, where he brought along his family and some of his workforce.

Rama, who is now back at the City Hall, said, without naming names, that there are some people, including members of the media, who had been accusing him of using government funds accordingly.

He flatly denied it.

“Wala sila masayod sa ilang gibuhat ba. Pasayloa sila. Way kwarta sa city government ang akong, ang among pag adto sa Singapore. Not a single centavo from the government,” Rama said.

The mayor disclosed that even his wife, first lady Malou Rama, could not help but even comment that she thought they were on vacation, yet they were doing some work without charging it to the city’s coffers.

“Ang katigayonan dili na makapabuhi. Pero ang sa serbisyo nga gi-offer ninyo, ikaw dili makalimtan sa mga tawo nga pirmi mohinumdom nimo, bisan patay ka na,” added Rama.

Rama said that his trip to Singapore is for Cebu City, since he is making it an inspiration in the city’s own transformation.

While in Singapore, the mayor and company visited the Philippine Embassy and had an enterprise meeting under the Ministry of Singapore for the businesses, the country’s housing development board, the Land Transportation Authority, National Parks Board, and the National Water Agency.

“Kung dili karon, kanus a man?..Kung dili kta…kinsa man?” Rama said.

Rama also thanked all the employees for working well even if he was away. — GAN (FREEMAN)
