Gullas not keen on floating cottages

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines —  Talisay City Mayor Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas would not allow floating cottages to operate offshore.

This after Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia issued an order which bans swimming within the 33 hectares off Cordova town.

The unregulated fixed and floating cottages were cited as the cause of seawater contamination in the area.

This prompted Gullas to think of not allowing such cottages to operate in the city’s seawaters.

Gullas explained that while these cottages could boost tourism activities, they need to be regulated in order to protect the environment.

The Talisay City Council is now considering the passing of an ordinance regulating the floating cottages.

Gullas ensure that cleanliness among the coastal barangays should be maintained. – Banat News, GMR (FREEMAN)
