CEBU, Philippines —  A reward of at least P100,000 is being prepared for anyone who could help solve the robbery incident in Sitio Lomboy, Barangay Lawaan in Dumanjug town in southern Cebu.

Dumanjug Mayor Efren Guntrano Z. Gica has pledged to give the amount to anyone who could provide information that could lead to the identification and arrest of the robbery suspects.

According to the Dumanjug Municipal Police Station, the incident victimized three individuals who were having a vacation at the house of their churchmate in the area, which is also along the highway.

Based on their initial investigation, the incident happened at around 1 a.m. on August 7, Sunday, when the victims were sleeping.

One of the victims woke up by 3 a.m. and noticed that their belongings including cash and personal items such as cellphones and ATM cards were gone in the place where they had placed them.

They went straight to the police station and reported the incident.

According to the police, there was no CCTV camera in the house making them difficult in identifying the suspects.

They also stated that the estimated value of the stolen items including the cash was more than P100,000.

Meanwhile, Gica told the Freeman that he was furious and upset about the thefts that were taking place in his town.

“If ever dili ni siya inside job, can you imagine there were 18 people inside the house, sayon ra diay kayo sudlon ang balay – murag di ko mosugot nga ing-ana ang mahitabo sa among lungsod,” said Gica.

“Di sad ko mosugot nga matagam ang mga bisita nga moanhi sa among lungsod kay diay daghang kawatan or naay mangawat, maong nahagit ko,” the mayor added.

Gica further said that they will conduct a reliable “lie detector test” on the 18 occupants of the house using his own personal money - and that he will not stop until the authorities capture the suspects.

The Dumanjug police said they are still investigating the incident. — Jonah Marie Chu, CNU Intern, GMR (FREEMAN)
