Rama ends home isolation

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines —  Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama has appeared in public for the first time during the "dance monthly olympics" since he was in home isolation.

Rama showed that he has not weakened because of COVID-19 by showing his moves on the dance floor with Eleanor Hayco of the Cebu City Dancesport Team.

“First nako nga activity after in captivity; first nako nga appearance is with dancesports. I know how to dance cha-cha, boggie, reggae, swing and most of all sweet dance,” said Rama.

On the other hand, Edward Hayco, the founder of Dancesports Cebu, happily announced that the dancesports show has returned after taking a break due to the pandemic.

The first ever "dance monthly olympics" was held on August 6, 2022 at SM Seaside City where nearly 300 young people from the cities of Cebu, Danao, and Lapulapu, aged four to 14 years old, met.

Hayco stated that their goal is to give the youth the opportunity to improve their dancing skills and learn good habits through it.

According to Hayco, the event is also in preparation for the upcoming Batang Pinoy and Philippine National Games, where Cebu City always competes. During the Southeast Asian Games, held in May this year in Vietnam, the Cebuanos won three gold medals in dance sports.

“Gusto nato nga makatabang sa mga bata sa barangay ug public schools. Imagine 500 pesos ang per session, pero atong gihimo nga libre,” Hayco said. — Shaina Fame Marie P. Mabatid, UV Intern, GMR (FREEMAN)
