Special board eyed to implement Rama’s vision for Cebu City

Sanden J. Anadia - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — To ensure his dreams for Cebu City will come to fruition, Mayor Michael Rama is eyeing a special board to take care of the planning and its implementation.

Rama, who took his oath yesterday for a fresh three-year mandate, has envisioned the city to become the next Singapore.

Atty. Collin Rosell, Rama’s emissary, said the mayor will soon issue an executive order for that purpose. The special board will be composed of several city officials as well as representatives of the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry and various sectors.

Rosell said the special board will have a broad plan to achieve the mayor's dream. The method of carrying it out will be akin to corporate setting.

As soon as the special board is created, the master plan will not be affected even if there would be changes in the city’s administration. All aspects will be considered in the planning such as the environment, infrastructure, peace and order, among others.

According to Rosell, the mayor is very serious about his dream for Cebu City to become like Singapore.

Other details on the plan will be announced by the mayor through an executive order that will be issued in the coming days. —  FPL  (FREEMAN)
