Typhoid, dengue victims in Barili get cash aid

CEBU, Philippines — Around 200 families in the town of Barili who have been affected by typhoid fever and dengue were given financial assistance.

The P5,000 financial aid was given through the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD-7) to the beneficiaries from barangays Poblacion, Mantayupan, Gunting and Boloc-boloc where majority of the residents were affected by the said diseases.

Third District Congressman Pablo John “PJ” Garcia, in his Facebook post, assured there will be additional assistance to others who have been affected.

“Naa pay next batch sa distribution ining financial assistance. Mag-post ra mi og update puhon,” Garcia said through a post in his official Facebook page on June 29, 2022.

Barili has recorded an increase of typhoid cases since the start of the year overwhelming its infirmary as well as the Barili District hospital.

The local government unit reported three who succumbed from typhoid disease.

No final determination as to the source and cause of the said diseases but the LGU, including the Capitol, have taken actions to give assistance to the patients especially those who are admitted in the hospitals. — GMR (FREEMAN)
