Tutor molests 10-year-old tutee

Iris Hazel Mascardo - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — A 41-year-old male tutor was arrested Saturday evening after he was caught in a video sexually molesting his 10-year-old pupil in Barangay San Nicolas Proper, Cebu City.

The suspect was identified as Raymond Lim, a resident of the same barangay. He was picked up by the barangay officials at his residence and turned over to the police after the victim’s mother sought assistance from the barangay.

He is now detained at the Sawang Calero Police Station while a criminal complaint will be filed today before the prosecutor’s office.

Lim has been the victim’s tutor for two years now. He was hired to help the victim with her lessons and in answering her modules under the modified learning scheme during this time of the pandemic.

Lately, the victim’s stepfather noticed that Lim was acting suspicious prompting him to discreetly take a video of him during his tutorial session with the victim.

"Lain naman siya’g lihok ba. Mag-tutor sya maghilom man, n’ya sirad-an niya ang kwarto, lain man ing-ana, mao to ga video ko," said the stepfather whose name The Freeman withheld to protect the identity of the victim.

After having confirmed his suspicion, the stepfather immediately informed his wife—victim’s mother—and showed to her the video he took.

After seeing the video, the mother immediately asked the assistance of the barangay officials who were also quick to arrest the suspect.

In an interview with The Freeman, Lim admitted sexually molesting his tutee.

"Admitted man ko sa ing-ani sitwasyon, nadani guro or naboang or nasudlan lang guro og bakukang akong utok,” Lim said.

"Ako bisan unsaon pa nako’g deny tungod kay naa nay video, maski sa akong kaugalingon, nabuhat ko na, di man siguro mahimo nga na blangko ko, ako man gyud na’ng sala," he added.

Lim, who has been married for eight years, also work in a tin shop aside from being a tutor. — FPL (FREEMAN)
