CEBU, Philippines —  The Cebu City government has continued the monitoring and clearing of rivers, creeks, and other waterways, especially in flood-prone areas, as bad weather condition is expected to last until tomorrow.

Mayor Michael Rama has ordered all City Hall departments to coordinate with the barangays in conducting all necessary disaster-related preparations.

The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) also helped out in the monitoring of rivers and creeks within their areas of responsibility.

Personnel from BFP and City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office instituted preventive measures to address the overflowing water in a creek in Barangay Mabolo.

Personnel of Guadalupe Police Station were also tasked to monitor the rivers in Guadalupe and Kalunasan as well as in Barangay Sapangdaku. Talamban Police Station was also designated to keep watch on the Butuanon River.

Residents living along the riverbanks were advised to be vigilant while those within the danger zones were preemptively evacuated.

At least 80 families have been evacuated to the different evacuation sites in Cebu City. — FPL (FREEMAN)
