Rama wants to reutilize IEC as isolation facility

Sanden J. Anadia - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama is looking at reutilizing the IEC Convention Center (IC3) pavilion as temporary treatment and monitoring facility (TTMF) especially now that the COVID-19 cases continue to go up.

The mayor said that one of the initiators of this matter is the Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas (OPAV) Secretary Michael Dino.

The request has already been forwarded to Cebu Archbishop José Palma.

In addition, Rama said he just wait the official announcement of OPAV regarding the request.

It will be recalled that with the onset of the pandemic in 2020, IEC had been made a monitoring facility for those infected with COVID-19.

Although people are encouraged to go home isolation, Rama stressed that it is still best to prepare for the possible upcoming situations.

He said that not all times that patient is suitable for home isolation so it is best to prepare TTMF as well.

The mayor is now preparing the Cebu City Quarantine Center (CCQC) to be managed by the Cebu City Health Department with the assistance of the Emergency Operations Center.

On standby also as isolation facilities are the City Central School, Abellana National School and part of Cebu City Medical Center.

"Lakip niini ang usa ka bahin sa Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC), City Central School ug Abellana National School. Alang kini sa mga malumong kaso aron malikayan nga magkapuliki ang atong mga ospital, pribado man o pampubliko, sa mga pasyente nga ang mga nagkalisud lang ang ilang matagad," he added.

He reminds citizens to always be vigilant and not to neglect as cases are on the rise now by adopting Parental-Supervised Household Lockdown. — GMR (FREEMAN)
