CEBU, Philippines —  The municipal government of Liloan has given P5,000 in shelter assistance to another batch of families whose houses were affected by the onslaught of Typhoon Odette last month.

Each of the 1,120 families received the aid last January 7 in a distribution led by Mayor Christina Garcia-Frasco.

“Mayor Christina Frasco tasked the 14 Barangays to re assess and re verify the damaged households in need of immediate financial assistance and the 14 Barangay Captains submitted their respective lists to the MSWD,” a post on the Municipality of Liloan Facebook page read.

As it stands, 3,151 families in Liloan have already been given the assistance.

The local government continues to conduct assessment and verification on the houses and properties affected by the typhoon in order to check if assistance is needed.

Aside from shelter assistance, Liloan municipal government has also distributed relief goods such as rice and canned goods to residents.

The LGU first distributed relief items to 43,000 families last December 31. Another batch of families is expected to receive the same on January 11.

The distribution was made per barangay and purok. — JMD (FREEMAN)
