More vaccinees show up on third day of vax drive

CEBU, Philippines —  Local Government Units in Metro Cebu have vaccinated more on the third day of Bayanihan, Bakunahan-National Vaccination Days compared to the first two days with Cebu City having the most number of vaccinees.

In terms of percentage, however, Lapu-Lapu City logged the highest accomplishment with 168% against its target. But Cebu City had the most number of people vaccinated during the national vaccination drive.

Cebu City posted 130 percent actual accomplishment with 41,901 vaccinees as against its 32,000 target. The record shows that 34,127 doses were consumed for the first dose; 7,001 for the second dose and 773 for booster shots.

Lapu-Lapu City, which has a daily target of 9,746 doses, was able to inoculate a total of 16,341 on the third day--11,441 first dose, 4,78 second dose and the rest were boosters.

Like the cities of Cebu and Lapu-Lapu, most LGUs in Metro Cebu also saw an influx of vaccinees on the third day.

For the third day alone, Mandaue was able to utilize a total of 9,260 doses, Talisay with 8,976, Naga with 4,449, Minglanilla with 6,506, Consolacion with 6,315, Cordova with 2,335 and Liloan with 3,935.

The 3-day national vaccination drive helped improved Metro Cebu’s accomplishment in the government’s immunization effort against COVID-19.

Based on the data from the Visayas Vaccination Operation Center, Metro Cebu now has at least 75.06% of eligible population as partially vaccinated while 62.68% as fully vaccinated.

Mandaue City is the closest to achieving the herd immunity with 66.51% of eligible population fully vaccinated followed by Lapu-Lapu City at 60.43%  and Talisay at 51.97%.

The other LGUs in the Cebu island are also slowly catching up. — FPL (FREEMAN)
