Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines —  Cebu Sixth District Representative Emmarie “Lolypop” Ouano-Dizon distributed P12,890,000 in financial assistance to 10,155 drivers in Cebu’s 6th district.

Ouano-Dizon said that this is part of her project providing cash assistance to some sectors whose livelihoods were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In Mandaue City, 5,470 drivers of tricycle and motorcycles-for-hire or habal-habal received a total of P8.2 million.

The amount is sourced from the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development which was included in the General Appropriations Act through the effort of congresswoman.

Ouano-Dizon said that a portion of the cash assistance for the drivers also came through the help of Senators Bong Revilla and Bong Go.

Almost P3 million were given to 2,973 drivers of Consolacion. In Cordova, 1,712 drivers, including those using trisikad for their livelihood, also received P1.7 million cash assistance.

“Sukad pagsugod sa pandemic, our office has been roaming around the district helping the frontliners ug katong mga sector nga naglisud gyud ang panginabuhi. Daghang nawad-an sa paglaum labi na gyud tong mga nawagtanga ug trabaho. Maningkamot lang gyud ang atong opisina nga makahatag ug hinabang sa mga naglisud,” Ouano-Dizon said.

Agimat Partylist second nominee Nixon “Jojo”Dizon, the husband of the congresswoman, vowed to expand the assistance should they get a seat at the House of Representatives.

Foremost in the Agimat Partylist’s advocacy is to help the recovery of those who lost their livelihoods during the pandemic.

The financial assistance will be expanded to all Barangay Health and Nutrition Workers and barangay tanods in the district in the coming days, Ouano-Dizon said. — LPM (FREEMAN)
