Woman on viral food mess goes to police

CEBU, Philippines — The woman who went viral for allegedly not paying the remaining balance of the food package she ordered has put the incident on police blotter against the seller.

Cops of the Mabolo Police Station identified the complainant as Maria Amy Holfiña who accused seller, Marjorie Abastas, for allegedly causing an alarm and scandal inside her property in Barangay Babag, Cebu City through taking videos.

“Niadto sa estasyon kagahapon (Monday) mga alas 10, nagpa-blotter lang sya for record purposes unya amoang giingnan nga balik ka mam og ganahan ka mo-file og case. Unya gahuwat pa mi ron, wala naman siya mobalik,” Police Major Renz Talosig told reporters Tuesday.

According to Talosig, they would be willing to assist Holfiña should she will push through the filing of charges.

Quoting Holfiña’s narrative when she went to the station, Talosig said that she reportedly booked for a “catering” worth P18,000 and paid for the down payment of P9,000.

“Nagpakita pa syag receipt. Nya ang kanang iyang gipa book daw nga worth P19,000 is good for 50 to 60 persons nya inig abot daw sa order niya, ang kadtong pagkaon nga ming abot gamay ra, mura og di kaabot og 50 to 60 persons,” said Talosig

“Nya niabot karon ang katong maningilay, wa guro sila nagkasinabot, naglalis sila. Gikwestyon seguro nya ba kung ngano mang gamay ra nga ang kantidad nga iyang gibayaran dako,” he added.

In a video that was recorded by Abastas online that has been circulating, she was seen going inside a property, believed to be Holfiña’s.

The video shows a confrontation between the two parties that later on resulted into an exchange of heated argument.

According to Talosig, Holfiña claimed that Abastas wasn’t the girl whom she booked the transaction with. In the video, Abastas claimed also that it was her reseller.

“Didto siguro nagsugod. Pero ang unang niadto sa iyang balay daw kay mao ra toy maningil ug naghatod sa pagkaon, dili sad daw to ang iyang gi-orderan. Ang kadtong nag video-video lahi lang sad daw to,” said Talosig.

“Pero niingon sya nga mobayad man unta ko sir, ang akoa lang gi-question ngano mang gamay ang ilang gi-deliver nga ang ilang sabot is good for 50 to 60 persons. Didto gyud nagsugod, siguro lahi sad ang estorya nga nahitabo sa kadtong gipasingil ug gipa-deliver, lahi ang estorya, pag abot didto aw ga video na daan,” he added.

Holfiña, accordingly, went first to the cybercrime office. However upon assessment, the cybercrime referred her to the police station adding that the video wasn’t libelous.

The Mabolo Police Station then referred her to settle with Abastas in the barangay. — GMR (FREEMAN)
