CEBU, Philippines —  Metro Cebu and the rest of the Visayas are expected to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to southwest monsoon (habagat) or localized thunderstorms today, said PAG-ASA.

“Ang tibook Visayas, Occidental Mindoro, ug Palawan lakip na ang Kalayaan Group of Islands, makasinati og panagsang mapanganuron ngadto na sa madag-umon na kalangitan inubanan sa mga pat-ak pat-ak na ulan ug pagpanugdug-kilat tungod sa Habagat or localized thunderstorms,” said the weather bureau in its forecast today.

(The entire Visayas, Occidental Minodoro and Palawan including the Kalayaan Group of Islands will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies. There’s a possibility of isolated rain and thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms.)

It added that moderate to strong winds from southwest to south will prevail over Occidental Mindoro and Palawan including Kalayaan Islands with moderate to rough seas.

Also, light to moderate winds from the south to southwest will prevail over the Visayas with slight to moderate seas.

Temperature in the region will range from 25 to 32 degree Celsius and heat index is estimated at 38 degree Celsius.

The weather bureau’s extended weather outlook also forecasts temperature in Metro Cebu and the rest of the province will remain at 25 to 32 degree Celsius from June 16 to 18 and at 25 to 31 degree Celsius on Saturday, June 19.

Aftermath

Meanwhile, the Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said it is currently assessing the damage caused by the landslide in Villa Estrilla in Barangay Kalunasan and Sitio Sta. Lucia in Barangay Taptap following Saturday’s downpour.

It said there is an ongoing damage assessment in Sitio Sta. Lucia, Barangay Taptap where landslide damaged a house in the area on Saturday evening.

The CCDRRMC also said it cleared an obstructed road in Barangay Pung-ol Sibugay and cut a felled tree in Sitio Tuburan, Barangay Pulangbato. — Deogracia William Bemida, Silliman University intern, KQD (FREEMAN)
