CEBU, Philippines —  Elements of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG-7) have arrested two siblings by virtue of warrant of arrest for robbery in two different barangays in Cebu City last Sunday.

The police identified the accused as Domingo Lachia Asenjo, 45, and Damasino Lachica Asenjo, 43, who are in the list of most wanted individuals in station level.

The operation was conducted in Sitio ISKP, Sambag II at around 1 p.m. Sunday where Damasino was arrested.

Domingo was also arrested in Sitio Bato, Barangay Ermita an hour earlier.

The siblings' warrant was issued by Judge Darren Damoan of the Regional Trial Court 7 Branch 26 in Argao, Cebu on November 16, 2020.

The court has recommended the bail of P100,000 each for the cases of robbery with intimidation.

In an interview, CIDG-7 chief, Police Colonel Ireneo Dalogdog, said the two operations stemmed from other law enforcement agencies which coordinated with them.

"Ito daw dalawang ito ay sighted, kaya immediately nagbuo kami ng team para hulihin itong dalawang magkapatid na involved sa robbery with intimidation," said Dalogdog.

Dalogdog further said that this is also in line with their flagship campaign that aims to arrest all the wanted individuals on their list.

"Sa ngayon marami pa tayong mga most wanted persons na dapat nating mahuli, itong kasamahan natin dito sa CIDG ay patuloy na nagtatrabaho," said Dalogdog.

He added that by the end of this month they will be conducting another Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operations (SACLEO), which will be conducted monthly.

SACLEO focuses on another area of law enforcement dubbed as Oplan Pagtugis, which implements warrant on most wanted individuals, and the Oplan Paglalansad Omega that campaigns against loose firearms.

"Starting January 2021 up to today ay nakahuli na tayo ng more or less 114 assorted firearms," said Dalogdog.

Aside from these, the CIDG also launched its campaign dubbed as Oplan Ligas, which focuses on the refilling, selling and distribution of liquefied cylinders without the legitimate authorization. — GMR (FREEMAN)
