Mandaue City opens new vaccination center

CEBU, Philippines —  The Mandaue City government has opened the online registration of persons with comorbidities in the city with the University of Cebu-Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue (UCLM) as its vaccination center for north cluster barangays.

The city government likewise continues to vaccinate its senior citizens until next week at the Mandaue City Sports Complex.

“To families of all senior citizens, taga-i og pagtagad ug pagpakabana. Pabakunahi ninyo ang inyong mga senior citizens karong semanaha samtang sila pa ang priority sa bakuna nga libreng gipanghatag sa atong gobiyerno aron ma-immunize na sila sa virus ug makasugakod sila sa pandemya,” said Mandaue City Vaccine Board chairman Ernie Manatad in his Facebook page.

“Ang atong pagpakabana sa pagpabakuna maoy yawe para sa atong paglingkawas aning pandemya,” Manatad added.

The Lapu-Lapu City government has also started vaccinating yesterday the persons with comorbidities aside from senior citizens after the Department of Health 7 gave them an allocation of 7,000 doses.

The city also started vaccinating its healthcare workers with the second dose.

DOH-7 spokesperson and chief pathologist, Dr. Mary Jean Loreche, said that a total of 25,176 senior citizens were already vaccinated with the first dose in Central Visayas as of May 17, 2021.

The region has 604,444 total eligible population for senior citizens which means, 580,268 senior citizens are still due for vaccination.

No data yet as to the total eligible population for persons with comorbidities as registrations are still on going, Loreche added. — GMR (FREEMAN)
