Gullas asks telcos to coordinate when digging roads
Gullas has already met the City of Talisay-Traffic Operation Development Authority (CT-TODA), Association of Barangay Councils (ABC), Engineering and Licensing departments and the City Planning Office to discuss complaints on road holes.

CEBU, Philippines — Talisay City Mayor Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas Jr. is set to meet with officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways, and the telecommunication companies next week.

Gullas has already met the City of Talisay-Traffic Operation Development Authority (CT-TODA), Association of Barangay Councils (ABC), Engineering and Licensing departments and the City Planning Office to discuss complaints on road holes.

It was found out that telcos had dug holes on the road without coordination with the proper agency.

Complaints by netizens have reached Gullas on the danger of road holes to motorists.

“Usahay kadlawn buhaton. Human dili humanon. Human ang reklamo sa tawo ari baya sa city kay agian baya inig buntag,” Gullas said.

In Barangay Bulacao, the holes were reportedly filled up but this had blocked the drainage system.

Gullas said they should be informed of any undertakings by telcos especially if it affects the public.

Meanwhile, the city has recently established the sixth discipline zone located in Barangay Lawaan 1.

Talisay City Police chief, Police Lt. Col. Gerard Ace Pelare said they educate first the people in the area rather apprehend them immediately of any violations.

Pelare said they are eyeing more discipline zones in every barangay in Talisay City in order for the residents live peacefully. — GMR (FREEMAN)
