Cebu CH employee arrested for drugs

CEBU, Philippines —  A casual employee of Cebu City Hall and his cousin were arrested by the elements of Lapu-Lapu City xx Police Office - Intelligence Unit in a separate buy-bust operation last Thursday night.

The police identified the suspects as Jeffrey Delos Santos and Robeth Delos Santos who were renting a house in a subdivision in Barangay Babag, Lapu-Lapu City.

At around 7 p.m., Jeffrey was first arrested in Purok Thunder in the said barangay where four packs of suspected shabu with estimated value of P700,400 were confiscated.

Hours after, his cousin Robeth was also arrested for drugs inside his house where P714,000 worth of suspected shabu were confiscated.

According to Police Major Joey Bicoy, LLCPO-IU chief, Robeth has been working as administrative aide in a government office in Cebu City.

He was also determined as a high-value individual and was monitored in the drug personality watchlist.

Bicoy further told reporters that Robeth can dispose of around 100 to 200 grams of shabu per week.

He added that Jeffrey was the source of Robeth in their illegal drug trading.

They can both dispose of around 500 grams to one kilo of suspected shabu per three weeks.

Furthermore, Bicoy also disclosed that Robeth was also previously charged with drugs however, he is uncertain on what year specifically.

Bicoy said that it took them at least two weeks of surveillance before they closed transactions with the suspects.

He added that their areas of disposal were in Barangay Pasil in Cebu City other than in Lapu-Lapu City.

The two suspects were natives of Barangay Suba in Cebu City.

Terminated

Meanwhile, Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella signed yesterday the termination order against Robeth, a casual employee of the Department of General Services (DGS) following his arrest.

“Thus, for the foregoing cited legal grounds, notice is served, that your employment with the Cebu City Government is hereby ordered terminated,” read the termination order.

The order shall take effect immediately upon receipt.

Moreover, Robeth is also directed to clear his money and property accountabilities with the city government. — Mary Ruth R. Malinao, GMR (FREEMAN)
