Seniors to get cash aid before March ends

CEBU, Philippines — Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella has assured senior citizens that they will get their financial assistance within this month.

Labella in his Facebook post said that the Office of Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) is already preparing for their financial assistance and these will be released soon.

Senior citizens have been waiting for financial assistance since January. Each beneficiary gets P3,000 every month.

This year, Labella said they will be giving the first three month of assistance altogether before the month ends.

“Itingob nato ni ang tulo ka bulan kay ang atong City Treasurer's Office ug ang Office of the City Accountant na-busy gayod pag-ayo karon sa payment of business taxes nga gi-extend until March 20, 2021,” emphasized Labella.

Along with it, Labella said, Land Bank of the Philippines has already done with the 15,000 cash cards for the senior citizens but will still have to check if it can be used already.

If the cash cards cannot be used yet this month, the distribution will be made through “house-to-house” anew.

“If not, ato lang usa gihapong ihatod ang financial assistance sa tagsa-tagsa ka mga pinuy-anan sa atong senior citizens,” Labella said. — GMR (FREEMAN)
