Provincial government to launch Holy Week tour packages

Le Phyllis F. Antojado-Orillaneda - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu provincial government is set to launch tour packages this month for travellers who wish to visit the province during the pre-Holy Week and Holy Week.

The tour packages the Province offers is a way to entice more tourists from different areas in the country especially Luzon to tour around the tourist destinations in the province.

In a Sugbo News report, the packages are patterned on the Suroy-Suroy Sugbo concept.

The Capitol has not yet given the date of the launching and further details of the tour packages.

Governor Gwendolyn Garcia said the tour packages must be affordable for tourists from the air fare down to the accommodation and transport tour.

Garcia earlier said the tour operators will come up with affordable packages such “4 days-3 nights” packages for the travelers.

Under the Executive Order No. 12 of Garcia, tourists from other areas in the country may now visit Cebu Province without a need for the RT-PCR test.

They need a medical certificate issued by a reputable doctor seven days prior to their travel date and a pre-booked reservation on the hotel or resort they will be staying while on vacation only. They must also pass the symptoms checking at the point of departure and arrival.

The eased restriction for travelers is a way for the province to boost its domestic tourism and ailing economy which was greatly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. —GMR (FREEMAN)
