Barangay Pulangbato Bridge needs immediate repair
CEBU, Philippines — Vehicles are prohibited from crossing the steel bridge in Barangay Pulangbato, a mountain area in Cebu City, following some damages of the structure.
City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) had cordoned off the bridge for the sake of the motorists' safety.
“It was noted to be heavy damaged and pose a danger to heavy vehicles that may cross the steel bridge,” the office stated.
The Department of Engineering and Public Works (DEPW) will check the bridge for immediate repair.
“To prevent it from collapsing, SRS personnel cordoned the steel bridge and only motorcycles are allowed to cross while waiting for City Engineering Office to begin retrofitting procedures,” the CDRRMO added.
CDRRMO officer-in-charge Ramil Ayuman dispatched the Special Rescue Squad to coordinate with Pulangbato Barangay Captain Marlene Macua regarding the situation of the bridge.
The barangay will build diversion road few meters away from the bridge.
“Si Mayor Edgar Labella nasayud na sab sa maong sitwasyon ug nimando sa city engineering nga ayuhon sa labing daling panahon,” Ayuman said. — GMR (FREEMAN)
