CEBU, Philippines — Anthony John Apura, 38, president of the Association of Barangay Councils in Carcar City and son of Carcar City Mayor Mercedita Apura and Vice Mayor Nicepuro Apura, survived an ambush at around 3:45 p.m. yesterday in Sitio Tungasan, Barangay Valladolid, Carcar City.
Lt. Col. Alan Rosario, Carcar City Police chief, said Anthony’s pick-up truck was peppered with bullets by unidentified assailants.
The police are still conducting investigation to identify the culprits and to determine the motive.
"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures... Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me,” Anthony posted on Facebook after the attempt on his life. — FPL (FREEMAN)
