Cebu City logs single digit of COVID-19 cases
CEBU, Philippines — After a scare of the sudden recurrence of a high number of cases, Cebu City has been able to keep a single digit of additional cases of Covid-19 for five straight days.
From as high as 371 active cases in a day logged last November 22, Cebu City now only has 215 total active cases left.
Based on Emergency Operation Center’s data, 134 of the active cases are being isolated at the NOHA Complex and 26 at the IC3 while the rest are in different hospitals.
A total of 39 barangays are currently with active infection and 41 others zeroed in transmission.
Cebu City opened the month of December with only one new case and eight in the December 2 case bulletin of the Department of Health.
From the first two days of December alone, there were 86 individuals that have recovered from COVID-19 and no reported additional deaths.
In EOC’s daily monitoring, sources of transmission in the past five days are mostly from households and workplaces.
In the last five days as well, there have been no more additional cases traced from public or satellite markets, boats and facilities and supermarkets, travellers and vacations, hospitals and the neighborhood nor from birthday parties and malling.
As such, the EOC is urging the public to remain compliant and not complacent of the health protocols set against COVID-19.
Gatherings and Christmas parties are also being discouraged and instead EOC advised that it shall be kept simple and among immediate members of the family only so that resurgence of COVID-19 can be avoided. — GMR (FREEMAN)
