CEBU, Philippines —  At least two members of Communist Party of the Philippines - New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) were arrested for a murder case in two separate operations conducted by the 703rd Maneuver Company (MC) of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 7 in just a week.

RMFB-7 led by Police Lieutenant Elmond John Mondaya, acting company commander, has arrested Raymond Callora last Monday while Antonio Amparado Jr. was nabbed on Thursday.

Both Callora and Amparado were found guilty of murder of a member of Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit (CAFGU) in Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental.

Callora was nabbed while attending a burial in a cemetery in Liloan, Cebu after the RMFB-7 received a report of his presence while Amaparado was arrested in Barangay Panlaan Gamay in Dumanjug.

The suspects are now in the custody of RMFB-7 while waiting for their transfer to Guihulngan City Police Station in Negros Oriental.

Meanwhile, two other alleged CPP-NPA members voluntarily surrendered to RMFB-7 in Barangay Li-ong, Dumanjug last Sunday.

Yolo Fat and Melborn Sabio, who are allegedly members of the NPA Squad 3 Striker Unit in Guihulngan City, surrendered with their unlicensed firearms to the authorities.

Fat surrendered one .357 caliber revolver with four live ammunitions without serial number while Sabio turned over his one .38 caliber revolver with five ammunitions also without serial number.

The surrenderers went to the RMFB-7 to ask for help on how to go back into the arms of the government since being a member of the NPA made them difficult to find food and shelter.

They said they will help the authorities convince their fellow members to voluntarily surrender as well. — GMR (FREEMAN)
