Atty. Wee murder: NBI central office wants investigation intensified
CEBU, Philippines — The director of the National Bureau of Investigation has ordered the NBI-Central Visayas to intensify the investigation into the killing of lawyer Joey Luis Wee, who was shot in broad daylight outside his office in Barangay Kasambagan, Cebu City on November 23.
NBI-7 director Renan Augustus Oliva said NBI director Eric Distor met with the family of Wee the other night during a visit in Cebu.
"We went to meet with the family, extend our condolences and extend support sa investigation nga atong gibuhat karon," Oliva said.
NBI Central Office has deployed four investigation agents plus a forensic expert, a polygraph examiner and a cartographer to help them in their investigation.
Oliva, though, clarified that the intensified investigation will not only for the case of Wee but also for all the pending cases the NBI-CEVRO is currently handling.
"This is not specifically for Atty. Wee's case, apil na pud tong mga cybercrimes, kadtong previous cases involving lawyers," Oliva said.
Oliva refused to divulge additional details about the Wee case as investigations are still being conducted.
He said Distor's visit was also to inspect recovery system of the data of NBI, as well as their whole facility. After Cebu, the NBI director will proceed to NBI Palawan for a visit there as well. — KQD (FREEMAN)
