2 businessmen killed in separate shooting incidents

CEBU, Philippines —  A businessman was shot dead Friday night by an unidentified assailant inside his sport utility vehicle upon entering a motel in Sitio Laray, Barangay Pitogo, Consolacion.

The police identified the victim as Rey Godinez Yuson, 39, married, and a resident of Sitio Fatima, Barangay Jubay, Liloan.

Consolacion Police Station chief, Police Major Verniño Noserale, said that Yuson who was driving his Ford Everest was supposed to enter the motel when a motorcycle riding man with a woman backrider arrived and shot him dead.

An unidentified woman reportedly got off from the vehicle of the victim and quickly rode the motorcycle of the assailants who immediately left the area.

The victim sustained gunshot wounds to his head and other parts of his body resulting in his death.

Noserale said they are eyeing robbery as the motive behind the killing after the family claimed the sling bag of the victim containing an undetermined amount of money was lost.

Noserale said they tried to bring the victim to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Lapu-Lapu incident

Meanwhile, a house lessor also died Friday night after he was shot dead by four unidentified assailants inside his house in Purok Judas Belt, Barangay Babag, Lapu-Lapu City.

Police Master Sergeant Jack Lloyd Pogoy of Precinct 3 of Lapu-Lapu City Police Office identified the victim as Edwin Moralde, 58.

Moralde’s live-in partner Mary Jean Bongasiso said the victim has been suffering from physical disorder after a motorcycle accident resulting in his difficulty in moving.

Bongasiso said the victim has been leasing houses in Barangay Bankal, Lapu-Lapu City as their source of living and that she didn’t know of any person whom the victim was in conflict with. — GMR (FREEMAN)
