CPPO taps deputies to head stations

Iris Hazel Mascardo - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines —  The Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO) is now waiting for the replacement police officers of those officials who underwent their mandatory schooling.

"Hindi naman na masasabi na revamp.  If you recall, kulang po tayo ng mga officers dahil yung iba nag-schooling, pero ginagawa natin is bina-balance lang natin tong police doon sa needs sa area," said  CPPO Director Aladdin Collado.

Among the police chiefs who were reassigned are Police Major William Homoc of Minglanilla Police; Police Lieutenant Colonel Clarissa Gabutan of Carcar City; Police Lieutenant Colonel Emilie Santos of Bogo City; Police Lieutenant Colonel Janet Rafter of Toledo City and the police chiefs of San Fernando, Barili, Cordova, Catmon and Medellin.

Collado said he has assigned some deputy chiefs in these police stations to be able to man the personnel and to continue the operations and regular duties.

"Sa ngayon kagaya ng sa Minglanilla, ang hepe doon naging staff ko dito sa province dahil nagkulang ng staff officer ko.  Kailangan ko din ng opisyal na matagal na dito sa Cebu or seasoned na, kailangan ko sya, kaya pinalitan sya ng bago," he said.

Collado added that some policemen of the stations and offices of CPPO were assigned to take up double tasks while waiting for policemen that would replace the vacated positions.

At present, Collado admitted that they still have several positions left to fill in, however, he said that it is still within manageable level. As they wait for the replacement that is set to arrive this week, Collado assured that the same intensity of their police functions and service will be enforced.

In the absence of some station commanders, Collado said the district supervisors will be looking over these stations.

"Ang PNP naman po is a dynamic organization, regardless po ng kanilang ranggo ay may kakayahan naman sila, at maiintindihan ko naman na sila ay matagal na dyan sa mga pwesto nila.  So, it's a matter of supervision na lang on our part sa officers dito sa headquarters.  May mga tinatawag din kasi tayong mga district supervisors, so it's a matter of supervision nalang siguro," said Collado.—  GAN (FREEMAN)
