Talisay City sets dates for cemetery visits
Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (The Freeman) - September 27, 2020 - 12:00am

CEBU, Philippines — The City of Talisay has provided alternative dates of visitation to all cemeteries in lieu of the traditional All Souls, Day and All Saints’ Day schedule.

Mayor Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas Jr. has issued Executive Order No.32-2020 which states that all cemeteries in Talisay will be open from October 15 to 29.

This after the Inter-Agency Task Force has decided to close all private and public cemeteries, memorial parks, and columbarium from October 29 to November 4.

In line with this, Gullas has also allowed seniors and minors to visit their dearly departed loved ones on the specified dates.

The number of visitors shall be limited to 30 percent of the venue capacity only so that social distancing will be maintained.

Visitors are also reminded to observe other health protocols including temperature check upon entering cemeteries, wearing of face masks and face shields, and are encouraged to bring alcohol or hand sanitizers for protection from possible virus transmission.

Gullas has emphasized that parties and overnight staying in cemeteries are discouraged so that others will be accommodated each day.

The Undas Task Force along with the Philippine National Police-Talisay City shall be deployed in the cemeteries to monitor compliance of the executive order as well as to keep peace and order.

On the specified dates of the temporary closure of cemeteries, columbarium and memorial parks, interment and cremation services for non-Covid-19 cases are still allowed. — GMR (FREEMAN)
