Police recovery rate breaches 90 percent
CEBU, Philippines — The recovery rate of the Police Regional Office (PRO)-7 cops has now reached more than 90 percent, following the recovery from COVID-19 and the reintegration of at least 64 police trainees in Barangay Jugan, Consolacion, Cebu yesterday.
PRO-7 Director Albert Ignatius Ferro said that from the total affected cases of 500, there are just about 30 remaining cops that are undergoing recovery.
Ferro added they are now just waiting for the last 30 police officers infected with the virus to graduate from the recovery center next week.
“While you were isolated, you bear the power of friends and police, who became your family, they share your sadness, and loneliness... in this ceremony, you will share the happiness of overcoming the disease, and, as a family, the PRO-7 will always be here,” read Ferro’s message.
Police Colonel Cydric Earl Tamayo, who is in charge of their processing of their application to the service, said the reintegration program is important and congratulated them for making it through their recovery journey.
The recruits have undergone quarantine last July 21 to August 12. Their first swab testing was done last July 17, while the second was conducted last August 7. The results of the second test were released last August 11, in which all of them have already tested negative from the virus.
Deputy Regional Director for Administration Police Colonel Mafelino Bazar, in his speech, has commended the recruits for continuing their training virtually even when they were isolated. /GAN (FREEMAN)
