COVID-19: Cebu City cases breaches 9 thousand mark

CEBU, Philippines —  Quarantine checkpoints will continue despite Cebu City’s transition from modified enhanced community quarantine to the less restrictive general community quarantine starting today.

As Cebu City reached the 9,000-mark in terms of COVID-19 cases, it also breached the 500-mark for COVID-19 deaths.

As of July 31, the total number of confirmed cases in the city reached 9,000 with 3,292 active cases, 37 of these are new cases, based on the Department of Health in Central Visayas (DOH-7) data reported on its official Facebook page.

The total reported deaths already reached 506 after recording additional 13 deaths.

On the other hand, the city has 5,202 recoveries, 44 of these are newly reported.

In the same report, it showed that Mandaue City has 1,963 cases with 984 active cases. There are 36 new cases recorded.

Around 329 new recoveries were also reported, bringing the total number of recoveries to 912.

The total number of deaths remains at 67, as no new death was reported per the latest update.

Lapu-Lapu City has 1,830 COVID-19 cases with 745 active cases. There are 15 new cases recorded based on the latest DOH-7 update.

The total number of recoveries is at 1,015, five of which are newly reported.

The total number of deaths remains at 70.

In Cebu Province, the total number of cases is 1,767 with 774 active cases, after recording 56 additional cases.

The total number of recoveries is 909, 121 of these are new.

The total number of deaths is still at 84.

As of Friday, the total number of COVID-19 cases in Central Visayas has already reached 16,312 with 6,380 active cases, 9,095 total reported recoveries , and 837 total reported deaths. — GAN (FREEMAN)
