CEBU, Philippines — As more Cebuanos bike to work, a bike advocate and some of his teammates are starting to offer free bike maintenance during the COVID-19.

“Naguol ko gahuna-huna katong nurse gaguroy sa iyang bike.  Wala na ni-shift iyang bike unya wala ko katabang dayon, mao nag-ingon ani ko," said Mark Anthony Racal of Team Lukapa.

“Luoy kaayo walay public transport napugos sila bike to work unya nagkaguliyang kay wala pa kaayo open mga bike shop ron.  kung naa man gani sa Talisay, unya di man pwede molabang,” Racal said.

He added that there are three of them right now who have knowledge in bike repairs who are available to help employees to ensure their safety while biking to work.

The three members who have volunteered to do the bike check-up are in Talamban area for those in the north of Cebu City; one in Pardo for the south of Cebu City, and another one in Toledo City.

For those who want to avail of their free service, they just need to present their company ID for verification.

Schedule of check-up and repair can also be checked via Cebu Bike Boot Camp page.

Racal is also calling on fellow bikers and mechanics to help them in their cause, as they echo government’s battlecry to “heal as one.” GAN (FREEMAN)
