CEBU, Philippines —  Two siblings who are wanted for murder in Lapu-Lapu City were arrested Thursday evening in Purok 8, Barangay Mabasa, Danao City by the joint operatives of the Regional Intelligence Unit in Central Visayas, Lapu-Lapu City Police Office and Danao City Police Station.

The suspects were identified as Jaime Manco Velino and Pacondo Jaime Velino. The arrest stemmed from a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Ruelo Salabaga of the Regional Trial Court Branch 54 in Lapu-Lapu City over the 2017 murder of Celso Amodia.

Jaime was considered the most wanted person in Lapu-Lapu City while his brother Pacondo was also the fifth most wanted person in Danao City. The Velino brothers allegedly killed Amodia on March 16, 2017 over an argument of a cockfighting game while attending a barrio fiesta in Barangay Marigondon, Lapu-Lapu City.

They went into hiding for almost three years in Danao City after committing a crime in Lapu-Lapu City.

RIU-7 chief Lt. Col Arturo Brual Jr. said they received information on the whereabouts of the suspects prompting them to conduct surveillance operations resulting in their arrest.

The suspects are temporarily detained at the Danao City Police Station. They are expected to be turned over to the RTC in Lapu-Lapu City for the issuance of a commitment order.  FPL (FREEMAN)
